This body of work explores the intricate journey of grief, a process that combines memory, reflection, and realization. Each image depicts either a memory that I cherish or a moment where I contemplate loss. Grieving is a nonlinear process encompassing both the weight of absence and the beauty of remembrance. Sewing and quilting motifs symbolize a maternal link to my grandmother, through the skills she taught me as well as depicting the way she passionately wove my life together. With her old documents and paperwork, I gathered and shredded them up to make a paper that evokes her “ashes” and signifies the cyclical nature of life and death.
